Schools own entrance tests. (Harvey Grammar)

Post by yoyo123 »

I have a friend who wants her son to transfer to the Harvey Grammar in Folkestone at the end of year 7, from his comprehaensive

Apparently he will be expected to sit the school's own tests.

She can't get any information about the tests other than they are "maths and english"

Has anyone had any experience of the school's tests?

Are they multichoice like Kent Test or more formal written papers?

Any idea how she could get more information than she is being given?

We are not sure what help to give him

Wrong. Harvey Grammar School selects children as per the "Kent test". If the child fails the test, he will be accepted in Harvey Grammar School unless he "marginal" fails and that there is still some space in the school and also his year 6 books at school are good and neat !

Dover Grammar School operates on their own test for entrance but not Harvey. I try myself to have my son there next year !!!!

... NFER tests multi-choices are the one to get for Harvey.

Thanks, this was transfer from a Dover secondary in year 8 and it WAS a written english and maths

As you rightly say , the Kent test is the only test for year 6 to 7 "normal" entry, there is no separate test.

My son is in year 10 aqt Harvey, good luck fior this year's test!

Did you go to teh open evening?
