Still no doubt selfishly bathed in a glow of pleasure about being able to babble about which sections are easy, not forgetting the difficult last eight questions in maths (Saturday takers remember to advise your children about these). Well done.
my DD sat the 11+ on Saturday, I hadn't looked at the forum, but if i had, i doubt that the information supplied by the previous posts would have put DD at an advantage.

How did your DD find the test, maths hard etc.?
Re: Sept 10 2014 takes - All the Best!
Hi Villagedad
DD was incredibly calm both before and after the test. She attends an East Sussex village school even though we live in Kent and was the only child sitting the 11+. Older brother is at GS so she knows the format.
When she came out and said that the test was fine, some parts were easy. This automatically triggered warning signs for me, because whenever tests are found to be easy, the results never match! Today after reading this forum i asked her again.
She said that she guessed lots of answers and did find some of the maths questions tricky but answered them all. She couldn't remember the papers and didn't want to discuss it. Literacy is her strongest subject and she said she had no trouble with those. Practice papers in the last few weeks have varied from late 70's to late 90's, obviously depending on subject.
I must confess that i'm rather anxious about the results. DD is a lazy little thing and if she doesn't want to make an effort she won't! She's very keen to go to TGS so i hope that's enough to make sure that she tries her best.
How did your DC find the test?

Re: Sept 10 2014 takes - All the Best!
After being a veteran of the 2012 GS campaign, I had tried to avoid the forum this year for DS no.2. DS no.1 had surprised us and secured Judd and surprised us even more in Yr7 by getting an academic commendation, trust me there is hope for every child if my DS can do it as he can be lazy and had made an art out of procrastination.
We held little hope for DS2 this year as he has autism, dyslexia and has ADHD, he is the first child from his small independent specialist school to attempt 11+ but we always told him we would treat him the same as his older brother if he wanted to sit test. Applied to Kent for 25% extra time for reading questions and text, only to get complete refusal despite a raft of specialist reports. VR was always the worry but much to our surprise it was Maths DS2 completed only 11 out of 30, he stated all questions were very wordy/applied maths. We tried to explain concept of guessing if running out of time but he thought this illogical, you have to love autism it makes you very truthful. So GS out of question for DS2, but very proud of him for trying and as for KCC thank you for making GS's inclusive and supporting a very beautiful special child.

I saw a programme on TV recently where SEN children had support from an instructor to read them the questions. They could not help them solve the answer. I think this was to sit GCSE's.Ernestdad wrote: Applied to Kent for 25% extra time for reading questions and text, only to get complete refusal despite a raft of specialist reports.
You are clearly very proud of your DS and his attitude, and righly so. I hope he finds a school that will give him the tools to help him flouish.

That is a pity earnest dad that you received such a response. But maybe better than getting in and finding the school lacks the right skills too.
But maybe your son will pass anyhow. There could be a lot of children with 11/30 in the maths. Your son probably got the ones he did right. Not so sure about the rest of us!
