Lots also failed the English, so that must say something?

Re: Posting test scores?
There don't seem to be too many people willing to post scores this year, the lower scoring seems to have worried a lot of people.

Urn I don't think so. Considering the majority of Dc's guessed the last few questions.FortyNinePence wrote:Yes but lots didn't finish the Maths which in itself allowed differentiation?
This would have made results unreliable and ultimately devalue the scores of those who didn't guess!
The only people who would have benefited from that would be the lucky guessers and the super duper able DC's who would have got full marks in past years anyway.

I meant more that it allowed scores to show differences, rather than it being fair in any way. The English didn't seem to have the same time pressure, and was fewer questions, which you would have thought would make it hard to differentiate the scores that much.frangipani wrote:Urn I don't think so. I'm thinking compared to previous years, where each paper had about 50 questions, if that makes sense.

I agree mumof2boyskent.............I thought this post was for us to share scores, but it seems to have turned into a discussion about the various sections in the test instead.
It would really help to know what sort of scores have been achieved this year.

Re: Posting test scores?
Hi,
D's scored 367 overall. He scored 115 in maths, 125 in the verbal / non verbal and 127 in English.
He was 4a writing, 5c reading and 5b in maths at the end of yr 5.
In the cats he got 118 in maths, 121 verbal and 124 in non verbal.
We did not have a tutor but did do some papers over the holidays.
Fortunately we are not in a super selective area and it comes down to a pass then the selection criteria such as distance.
The test threw out some surprising results. He is top set but children from really low sets passed also. Some children in the top sets who had been tutored did not. One thing I did do was work on plugging gaps in knowledge.

Do you think the low set children had been misjudged for a long while perhaps?
