So why do places become available in this second round of allocations?don't really understand it all and do entry scores go any lower eg skinners if places not taken up what would score drop by?

Children take other offers, for example from independent schools or go on the waiting list for a preferred school. If they get a place they leave their originally allocated place.

It is difficult to predict, but it should go down a few points. Good luck!

Does anyone know the timescales of the second round.., ie when will we know the outcome of the re-allocation of places..?

If still no place at second round do you go on a waiting list and who manages the list?

Thanks all :)

The second round last year was around the twenty something of April. Have you seen KCC website?
If you don't get a place, then the list is passed onto the schools and managed by them.

Please make sure you send your waiting list request recorded delivery and get confirmation that they have received it. Forms have been lost in the past!

Hi ! It's the 22nd April.....I completely agree with Salsa...please do send any waitlist and/or appeal forms on a signed for service and follow it up with an email to them asking them to confirm that they have it. Apologies if this sounds over the top but I think ,although it is a bit of a faff , it is worth doing

How do you find out you have a place on second round?do you get a letter? And how long do you have to take offer and how do you let school know where you have accepted a place

You get a letter. If successful you let your local authority, if different, know and I would also contact the original school to let them know you will be accepting a place elsewhere. It doesn't hurt to let all the parties involved know.
Schools vary in the number of days you get to accept a place.

Hi all

Do 2nd round allocation announcements come by letter only, or are they also sent by KCC on email and available on the KCC 'ola' website where we found our first round allocation?

Many thanks :)

Last year it was only letter for us. This year it may be different.

Thanks salsa

Did the letter arrive on the expected day, i.e. this year it will be Wednesday 22nd April?
