Best of luck to you all and i'm in awe of the people who are doing this more than once!

I think if you live in the Kent catchments then the minimum pass score isn't that high so just being secure with all the basics and practising speed should be sufficient. The GL series of multiple choice papers are a must. It seems from the forum that most people do these in the summer but we started earlier (and found marking the sheets correctly took a while to master!) and re-visited the lower scoring papers in the summer once we'd worked on the knowledge gaps. If you are out of county/designated area then your child will need a higher score for some of the schools that take OOA. This year the amount of children on the higher scores seems to have increased by quite a bit. The Kent spreadsheet is useful and linked to on another thread.

Thanks for the comments. We have gone for group tuition on the basis she loves a classroom environment. This one will be smaller and more positive than school, with no naughty children or bullies. We are also moving away from any parental help with homework to encourage independence; we can't be in the exam with her so don't want over-reliance on an adult.
