My daughter sat both the exams and got through both. According to her, Mayfield was more difficult than Kent. Not difficult question wise but the timing was less compare to the no.of questions. For mental maths she got 5 minutes for 25 questions same was with all the subjects. The question were in random pattern maths then English then maths again then reasoning. It was computer based and Cem and not GL.
The English writing part was okay but unlike Kent test they got only topic.
Overall she preferred kent. Mayfield test is an optional extra opportunity which means you have to give kent test as well. If you pass kent the mayfield score is not considered.
Can't say for ooc but the school policy favors local candidates.

Thanks for the information. It was very interesting. May be a harder option. If you do not mind me asking did your daughter do better in the Kent or Mayfield test?

It is difficult to compare but this is the scenario. In Kent test you get three scores with minimum around 106 and highest 121 per subject ; aggregate maximum of 423 and minimum of 320.

For Mayfield there are 2 tests- 1 computer based comprising maths, non verbal reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning. There is no spatial reasoning. The weightage is 50% verbal and 25% maths and 25%non verbal. The scores are standardised. The highest this year could be 141.8.

English paper is written and is out of 20.

To pass mayfield you need one of the following combination
1. Min 99.27 in computer based and 10 in english
2. Between 95.03 and 99.26 and 12 in English
3. Between 93.5 and 95.02 and 15 in english
4. Between 90.48 and 93.49 and english greater than or equal to 16.

As you can see it is difficult to compare the scores. My daughter got 381 in Kent and 120.83 in Mayfield computer based and 10 in English.

My suggestion is that there is no harm in giving both the test, Mayfield test might be an advantage if your daughter is good in creative writing.

Sorry, meant to write 141 for Kent highest score but typed 121 instead. Thanks for correcting :-) :-)
