11 Plus Exams Forum

I know that there are a lot of worried people out there. Really, it is simlple, I HOPE!

I have another few days in which to find out, the questions that Melanie finds difficult... and Christopher will help me show her how to answer them.

Some of them are in blocks of five q's or so. This means of course that if she cant answer the first, then she can't answer that block.

I am finding that she can answer most, and even I CAN! and Christoper, bless him, shows us how to do the ones we cant. It is usually easy once he explains it!! he he.

good luck, and for those who have not, then still go to W.H.Smiths and spend that 9.99 on test papers.

I do agree with stevew61 though, bite size pieces are a good way to go, each section timed for six mins.

Please, if you are worried, please post a reply. It is v simple to register
and cost nothing. I could not have done this last year without the help
of the others on here, my son is now at TWGSB.

Cindy - are you referring to maths? I'm a bit confused.

hi cindy again - be very careful when doing this. Just because she can't answer the first question of the block, doesn't mean she won't be able to answer the second or third.
Do you mean when she gets stuck on the first she panics and thinks she won't be able to answer the rest?
In the question paper tips for parents sections it specifically states that 'Do not leave out whole sections at a time'
I'm sure you know what you're doing, but last minute clarification/tips to children can be helpful as long as they are not cramming too much!

give her lots of encoragement cindy, but at this stage she needs to be building her confidence.

as long as she does the best she can then she will make you proud..

she is very lucky to have you and your husband as parents, you want the best for her.

I am sure she will pass, but what ever the outcome all teh work you have done with her will help her with her secondary school work.

I have just about one section of maths left to cover, then she has done it all.

I have also been trying to boost her confidence.

I think she will do it, she is very bright, she just does not think so!

We're working on just builidng my son's confidence now. He did a couple of tests recently and scored about 75% so we thought we'd quit while we were ahead and end on a high! He can be a bit of a worrier, so we're just trying to build him up now. Can't wait for this whole thing to be over.

Denis denis your son sounds like he's doing A1. You've done all you can. Just try to build up his confidence in the next few days and help relax him - just like you said. Good Luck!
