Can anyone tell me how to apply for your child to take the 11 plus in the kent area. I have a son who is nine and have already started him with a private tutor but am unaware of what to do next.

Hi Bookworm!

What year is he in at the moment? If he is in Year 5 just about ot go into Year 6, I think the cut off date was last week (11 July). Our school were very stressy about getting the forms in on time so I think that they won't entertain any applications after that date.

If your child is just about to go into Y5 and is at a Kent state school, then the school will tell you whether they think your child is suitable for grammar and let you have the form when the time is right. Otherwise, why not visit the KCC website and looks for Admissions - that should tell you or if not will give you an email address to enquire.

Whereabouts in Kent are you?
