Post by scooby1 »

The area of the shaded triangle is 250mm squared. what is the area of the large triangle? The large triangle is made up of four small traiangles.

Therfore 250mm squared times 4. The answer is 10cmsquared. How do you work it out?

The "squared" relates to the units, not the whole thing. So that's 250 square millimetres, times 4 = 1000 square millimetres. There are 10 millimetres in a centimetre, so 100 square millimetres in a square centimetre.
