maths help!

Hello,
Thanks everybody. Obviously forgot lots of my maths, but it is never too late to revise

and learn. Everything is clear now.

well I've learnt something from reading this thread.. I'm sure at school I learnt BODMAS as division before multiplication before addition before subtraction..
but on checking I find

B Brackets first
O Orders (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc.)
DM Division and Multiplication (left-to-right)
AS Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right)

and my calculator seems to agree
