Following Sum is correct !!!

Ticks Tacks
2 4
+ 3 8
------------------
6 5
------------------

How many tacks are there in one Tick?

If I understand what you have written correctly then:

Tacks 4 + 8 = 12 in base 10 but we have a '5' in the Tacks column - so to get a '5' we need to 'carry' a bundle of '7' which must be how many tacks are in a tick

DS has not done anything other than base 10. Is it worth confusing him with "non base 10" addition and subtraction at this stage for 11 plus? I guess not.

He is preparing for QE Barnet. Its in a paper given by someone who prepared for same in past.

Anyway, I have decided not to worry about this and take the risk of not confusing him with additional topic.
