Another Habs past question 2005 No. 25

Post by kaytee1916 »

Hi All,

I'm struggling with the 2nd part of this question. Help please...

Robbers leave a jewellery shop at 2.00am in thier get away car travelling at 60mph.
Ten minutes later the police leave the shop in hot pursuit, travelling at 80mph.

How far have the robbers gone at the moment the police begin thier chase?
At what time will the robbers get caught?

Many thanks!

if they both left side by side and travelled for 30 mins the robbers would do 30 miles and the police 40 miles. as the robbers have a 10 mile start by 02.10 hrs then they will be caught half an hour later at 02.40 - 40 miles from where they started.
