My brain has stopped. DD managed to get the 1st part, but need help on teh second part.
Any help appreciated.

In this question you may assume the following exchange rates:

1 British pound (£) = 1.5 American dollars (US\$)
1 British pound (£) = 2 New Zealand dollars (NZ\$)

The price of a hoodie in the London branch of Abergavenny and Filtch
is £80. In New York the price is US\$90. How much do I save by buying
the hoodie in New York? Give your answer both in US dollars and pounds.

Saving = US\$ __30_________ and £ _______20____

My friend Sheila lives in Auckland, New Zealand. She saves US\$60 if she
buys this hoodie in New York. How much does it cost in New Zealand?
NZ\$ ___________

If it costs US 60 less in NY, then the cost of the unit is US90 plus US 60 = US 150

US 150 converted in £ = £100 - converted in NZ is NZ\$200

I think

I am not good at these, but I do try as I am sure it is good for me ...

A person in New Zealand saves US\$60 by buying it from NY. Means, it costs US\$60 more at New Zealand.

Price of Hoodie at New Zealand = US\$90 + US\$60 = US\$150.

We don't have a direct conversion between US\$ and NZ\$. Hence we will first convert the US\$ to £ and then to NZ\$.

£1 = US\$1.5 => US\$1.5 = £1
Hence, US\$150 = £100 (multiplying both sides with 100)

Now, £1 = NZ\$2
Hence, £100 = NZ\$200.

Cost of hoodie in New Zealand = NZ\$200

It's a bit sad when Habs think they are being 'cool' by setting a question about hoodies don't you think!

Arghhh!

I got the right working out and the wrong damn answer as I divided by the wrong **** currency. Have amended my answer (using the same working out process)

Thank goodness my mother sent me to a private school for stupid children and did not make me take the 11+ !!!
