There is a sequence of numbers and you have to find the next two...

8. 8.5. 9.5. 11.5.

I think the next two numbers should be 15.5 and 23.5

Would anyone come up with different numbers?

Oops, I'm not sure where those stray full stops came from! The numbers are

8
8.5
9.5
11.5

Any ideas what you think the answers in the Bond book are??

I'm not the best at maths but I would expect 13.5 and 16.0.

As the numbers move from left to right 0.5 is added each time.

8.0+0.5=8.5
8.5+1=9.5
9.5+1.5=11.5
11.5+2.0=13.5
13.5+2.5=16.

8.0+0.5=8.5
8.5+1=9.5
9.5+1.5=11.5
11.5+2.0=13.5
13.5+2.5=16.
trouble is that 9.5+1.5 = 11

perhaps the sequence is
8.0 + 0.5
8.5 + 1 = 9.5
9.5 + 2 = 11.5
11.5 + 4 = 15.5
15.5 + 8 = 23.5

Yes-those are the answers that we thought. The book gives the next two numbers as 6 and 8.5 ???

It's the Bond 10-11 papers, ppaer 12, question 36 and 37 if anyone was wondering!

I've recently looked at number sequences with DS2 , and taking into consideration alternate numbers, square numbers etc I can't see how that can be the answer. I think you must have hidden the answer sheet and are now looking at the wrong one. They look like shoe sizes . :?

LOL-it's definitely the right answer sheet! I'm stumped, too!

Mine says :

1
1.5
2.5
4

the next two numbers are

6
8.5

which makes more sense.

I wonder if you have a slightly different version of the book but not the matching answer sheet. My book was published in 2007.
