Got dd to finish paper 1 from the older set- she scored 52%. I will see how she gets on with the others but I was wondering how hard these papers are supposed to be. We still have 2+ months to go.

Just don't worry. You can't measure a child on one paper alone, or on practice papers indeed.

Remember it's just one paper that she's done and you still have two month to go and they are quality months where school doesn't get in the way IYKWIM

May be worth going over the paper slowly together so she can see where she could have picked up more marks. You may find that she just panicked and wanted to get it done "in time".

Did She finish? Draw a pencil line to where she got to in the hour and then get her to continue and finish. Set a target to get one question further on each time she does a paper. Everything will seem hard when she first starts, after a while she will settle in the style of the paper and speed up. Which schools are you sitting and what format are their exams? DG
