Ok the 1 is definitely not the question number.

My older dd said it might be 27 but I wouldn't let her explain why till we hear the teacher's take on it.

It's from my newly-11 year old's year 6 maths homework so better to get it wrong iyswim as she will then listen better in class to the explanation.

I'll grab her when she pops in on her way to play date and see if the teacher has gone over it yet...

Ok there were 2 answers possible she said, thinks 27 and 30, said she would ask teacher to explain 30 again so she can teach mum.

Yes, I'd be intrigued to know how she got 30 as a possible answer.

Doubling each term and adding 2 would give 30, except like the other proposed solutions it doesn't work with the first term.

Yes - so I wait to see how it can be correct. I am stumped.

I can't do it! Waaaaaah! :(

2+1 x 2 = 6
6+1 x2 =14
14+1x2 =30

The 1 is just a constant not a part of the series?? ie. (last term + the first term) x 2

I thought same as well but questioned myself why would they give 1 as constant term i.e. not part of the series. I mean the whole point of the sequences questions are the numbers that are in some logic.

You can't define a sequence like that!
