May I suggest that you ask them to use the correct name?
Would you allow a child to call a quadrilateral a 'box' because the other word sounds too technical?
Mathematical vocabulary is an essential part of learning maths and it will be even more important as the child grows up.

My job was to get him into Olave's. I am waiting for him to join there in Sep and be taught all that by his classteacher.

He is the kind of boy who listens more in this (decreasing) order - tutor, teacher, classmates, other friends, uncles & aunties, mom and then dad
