How to do this question without using simultaneous equation

3 sweets and 2 toffee cost 30p
2 sweets and 4 toffee cost 44p
What is the cost of 1 toffee.
I can do this with simultaneous equation but this is going to be difficult for 10 year old .can anybody pls tell me if there is an alternate method :roll:

The second is the same as 1 sweet and 2 toffees cost 22p - can you see how from there?
