Write the question out again. The first sentence is not grammatically correct so I am wondering if there are some words missing which would make the question clearer.

Hi, many thanks for the speedy replies, but that was how the question was written in a question paper from my son's tutor.

Benny is 13cm taller than Jack, but 5cm smaller than Atu. How much taller than Jack is Atu.

Many thanks

Ok, so let's say jack is 130cm, so Benny (at 13cm taller) is 143cm. That in turn is 5cm shorter than Atu, making Atu 148 cm, so Atu is 18 cm taller than Jack. Does that seem right?
A diagram would be good,as suggested.
