French vs English way of doing long divisions...
Hello there, I learnt long divisions the French way and find it very hard to explain them to my daughter the English way. I think I need a bit of practice to convert, any suggestions for where I could look this out? Thanks!

Year 5. She doesn't get it and I don't know hoe to explain it better to her. And decimals really throw her. I have started Bond no nonsense age 9-10 and it is going well so far.

There is a well explained method on khan academy I use with my students, I can pm the link to those that need it.

Please don't use khanacademy - it's not UK based or recommended by teachers - there are other better sites.

It doesn't matter much which source you use to learn the long division and long multiplication as the concepts remain broadly the same. The typical state schools continue teaching other elementary methods (partitioning) till Year 5 and then start teaching the long way in Year 6 which is too late for 11+.

Have you looked at the new curriculum? Since the OP was concerned about 'different' ways of teaching then surely it is more sensible to use a UK based website?
