Having had both of my children go (successfully) through CEM I wouldn't fret overly about time now. We didn't do much timed work until the summer hols (and then not much).
With regards to timing confidence builds success - my 10 mins initially were perhaps more like 14 or 15 and reduced down.
Whilst a lot of the material n the 10 min test books was appropriate it wasn't all - I crossed out some questions. I found the First Past the post books better then CGP.
At this stage I would be focussing on ensuring times tables etc are up to scratch rather then doing these books.
