Help .... 24hour clock
I have got a question from the Alpha Series 11+ Practice papers Pack one. For the question no.16 on Paper 1, it says "write 2.55pm using the 24-hour clock."
The answer is 1455hrs. Can the answer be 14:55?

I'd bow the the Final-Oracle-Of-All-Things-English, i.e. the Guardian Style Book:
http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-files/G ... ok2007.pdf
Under "Time" it says:
times1am, 6.30pm, etc; 10 o’clock last night but 10pm
yesterday; half past two, a quarter to three, 10 to 11, etc; for
24-hour clock, 00.47, 23.59; use noon, midday or midnight
rather than 12am, 12pm
Hence, true English still uses a full stop rather than colon!
Not sure how pendantic the Alpha Series will be...
