Feeling stressed and trying not to let son see!

Hi, we have been doing some practice papers, with largely unimpressive results, I have to say!

Son says he wants to go to grammar; I don't particularly want him to go, but will be upset for him if he doesn't pass as it's what he wants... I honestly can't see him doing it though. How can a child meant to be so 'bright' be so borderline on the practice papers? I don't understand it.

Does anyone know anything about QEGS Horncastle? Also, does anyone know what dates the 11+ papers will be sat in the primary schools? I know what dates the children will sit them at QEGS Horncastle, it's 15th & 22nd Sept, yet I don't know what date my own child will sit them, ironic really isn't it?!
Will the primary school tell me, or is it a big 'taboo'?

We have been told by my son's primary school that the dates for the 11+ are Monday 17th September for verbal and Monday 24th September for non-verbal. Hope this helps!!

JR67, many thanks for the information; I'm imagining, although not certain, that all the primary schools will do the tests on the same day?
