 Post subject: Pass rate variance
PostPosted: Wed Oct 17, 2007 2:42 pm
My daughter is in year 5 and will be sitting the 11 plus next year. I'm just a bit perplexed as last year hardly anyone passed the 11 plus in year 6 and this year a record number of children passed. Is it just down to the cohort sitting the paper or can they vary in difficulty from year to year? Just wondered....

Both my son and daughter passed the 11+, daughter got her result yesterday and my son is in yr 10.

In my son's year 6 100% passed from his primary school(12 children I think) and in my daughter's year 6 this year about 50% of children passed. Both children had practised over about 6 months using material from this site (and practice papers bought at Waterstone's in Lincoln) .

I will post elsewhere on this forum about the prep work I did with my son and daughter but my experience is that careful prep at home is the key and I think this vastly outweighs any variation in pass rate mark from year to year (if this happens at all).
