cubes/nets

Post by libs »

I have read that Lincs NFER NVR tests do not contain questions about cubes/nets. Is this true (hope so!) And is there a list of question types like the VR? With little material around we have been working our way through Bond examples and the cube questions looked scarey! Have been given some useful info about other NVR material (thanks Alex) - but would still appreciate a question type list... Many thanks

These are the question types which are covered in the NfER Nelson published tests. So far the Lincs tests seem to have stuck to these types (though not to the same format).

Analogies
Matrices
Sequences
Codes
Most like OR most unlike

Please could you let me know if it is really true that in Lincolnshire only certain types of NVR question could be asked. We have been working through Bond How to do NVR with DD and there are certainly some types she can deal with much easier than others. If we coudl eliminate some of the problem ones that would be brilliant, but if there is a chance they could come up we need to work on them not ignore them.

Thanks

There have not been any changes to the types of questions asked in the NVR test so far - they have only been the ones covered in the nfer/Letts published test papers. A few types which appear in Bond test papers are not relevant.

Urghh - can anyone help? In the 2 years when my children took the "new" tests cubes and nets did not appear in either the practice or the real thing, so it is worrying if the familiarisation practice test has changed. Can you clarify if the tests your child took were the "official" familiarisation ones?

At this late late stage the only thing I can think of is to cut out nets of cubes and look at them...

If anyone else has any ideas or comments on the practice tests I am sure everyone would be grateful to know if there have been changes.

Hi

Son did the tests this week at school-I've asked him if its the test the Grammar sent but he doesn't know.

He did three tests this week and one had cubes.

Usually there is only one of each VR and NVR familiarisation practice tests, so is it possible school set one of their own...?
