school transport

Post by tiredmum »

Is anyone out there an expert on free school transport criteria? :? Looking in the Medway Admissions to Secondary School booklet on page 50, apart from the "3 mile and appropriate school" rule I cant make head nor tail of it

That in essence is it, your child must attend the nearest appropriate school if deemed selective or non selective and door to door journey must be in excess of 3 miles from home for over elevens as worked out by council's geographical info system. Historically, they will write to you to advise if you are entitled, usually around April to advise you if you meet the criteria. There was a form you could fill in and return in the admissions brochure from Medway to advise you of nearest school.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know what happens if your child dosnt get offered a place at the nearest appropriate school? If they get accepted at the next nearest appropriate do they get the free transport?
