Selection Reviews

Post by afleetingglimpse »

Has anyone had any experience of the Selection Review Appeal stage for Skipton Grammar Schools and be able to offer any advice? My child has just missed out this year's cut-off mark by an extremely small margin. We will appeal, but don't know what strategy to pursue. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi, :)
If your child has narrowly failed cut off I would go for it, you've got nothing to lose.

If we hadn't been as fortunate last year we would have gone to a selection review, and failing that an appeal.

Good Luck.

Footymad. For advice pm Etienne on this forum xx.

Hi
No personal experience - have son at Boy's grammar. They seem keen to take kids who have "just" missed the mark and "suitable" for grammar school education.
Tends to induce some anxt locally as the cut off in Ripon is much lower than Skipton so your DD would have got through there - not sure how that comment would go down at a review in Skipton??!!!???

Suggest you aim at producing info eg Head's recommendation re the exam and also SATS and other tests etc as eveidence of how she was expected to pass.

Where is she currently at school? is it in catchment?
