Test 11 December compared to pretest - maths - Calderdale

When I asked my daughter how tough she found the pretest "it was pips". Lunchtime on Saturday I asked the same question "very hard". Even the maths wiz in her class found it difficult too.
Is there a reason why the two maths papers were polar opposites?
Apparently the VR was quite normal and no real problem.

Hi Nesbit,
Welcome to the forum.
I can't comment about the test this year as I've not been involved but when DC sat a couple of years ago he didn't notice much difference between the maths papers.
As the maths tests are written by the school I had always assumed they would use papers from previous years.
Perhaps someone else who sat this year will comment.

Hi there
My DS said that the maths test was harder but that he felt more confident with his answers so I am not sure what to make of that!
He finished the maths and guessed the last two VR. A few people I have spoken to have said that they guessed 10-15 of the VR and a friend of mine said her DD guessed the last 15 VR last year and still came 180th in the list (is now at CH). I think there must have been a lot of lucky guesses?
