Nearly there!

After 4 months of waiting to find out if my DS has a place at NHGS we will finally know in just over a week. At rank 331 we have felt no certainty about his chances though we have been told he should be ok.
Is there anyone else going through the same state of "limbo" as us? My worst fear is that we won't get in on initial allocation and we have to go on the waiting list.
Does anyone know how the re-allocation system works and how stressful it is?

Hi Ali,
At rank 331 we have felt no certainty about his chances though we have been told he should be ok.
From the admissions booklet NHGS went to rank 336 last year. Not much longer to wait. :)
Does anyone know how the re-allocation system works and how stressful it is?
Once people start declining places they can be re-allocated to those on the waiting list. They will be offered in the same way as before. (highest ranking).

Re-allocation process

Parents who are not happy with the school place they have been offered can request the name of their child to be added to a re-allocation list for school places which may become available after 3 March 2014 for secondary schools and 16 April 2014 for primary schools.

If re-allocation is requested at a higher preference school than has been allocated, the place offered can be retained.
If re-allocation is requested at a lower preference school than has been offered, or a school which was not originally indicated on the application form, the higher preference school must be given up. (Please note that giving up a place does not guarantee re-allocation to another school and the original place offered will be re-allocated to another child).
If a school has been offered which was not the original preference, parents can request re-allocation to all preferred schools or a school which was not originally indicated on the application form.

The deadline for the initial round of re-allocation requests is 17 March 2014 for secondary schools and 30 April 2014 for primary schools.

Parents will be notified of the outcome in writing by 31 March 2014 for secondary schools and 14 May 2014 for primary schools.

Re-allocation requests received after 17 March 2014 for secondary schools and 30 April 2014 for primary schools will be dealt with in order of date received.

Please note that information regarding the outcome of re-allocations will not be given over the telephone.

The reallocation (waiting) list will be maintained until the end of the first term of the academic year beginning September 2014.
Good Luck. :)

Hi Mitasol

Thanks for that information. In event of needing to request re-allocation, do you register for this through Calderdale Admissions or would you have to do this through Bradford if the CAF went through them originally?

Many thanks

Ali

Bradford state they will inform you what to do when they send out the school offers.

Bradford LEA wrote:When we write to you to tell you which school your
child has been offered, we will tell you who to contact
regarding the waiting list for your preferred schools.
I would expect that you will need to accept the school you are offered and tell Bradford LEA you want to remain on the waiting list for NHGS. I would also inform the NHGS that you want to remain on the waiting list. That way you cover all bases.

Hopefully you won't need to go through the re-allocation process.

We are in a position where DS passed 11+ but won't find out until allocation day if we have place as they allocate close to the school and we are quite far out and even though they have come out to near us in previous years not sure what this year will be like . Good luck to you and it's the last stretch now .... Can't actually believe it!!

Hope everyone gets the news they want tomorrow. Two years ago I was a nervous wreck waiting to hear if my DS had got a place at NHGS - he was 324th. It was good news, so take heart!
DD has definitely got her place this year but I know how it feels when the result is borderline. Good luck x
