Alot of people are speculating whether their child will get into either Crossley Heath or North Halifax Grammar School because their childs ranking was somewhere near the cut off mark.
But did you know that almost 100 children who couldnt sit the entrance exam in october 2015 took the exam on december 12th 2015.
I know a parent who didnt even bother to register for original exam but after the result letters came her daughter wanted to sit the exam because so many of her friends had done well and would gain places at Crossleys. So she simply rang school and they agreed she could join the kids who were ill on original exam day.
As the original exam result letter pointed out, your childs ranking will change when the december exam results are incorporated into the original ranking order.
By the law of averages approx one third of these children will be in the top 300, so your childs ranking could potentially drop by 30.
The school advises that if you want to know your childs new ranking you may telephone them in january.

only if treated as two separate cohorts. If fact the the 100 will be recombined and far fewer than you think will be above the cut offs

That's a big increase in the number of children who sat the Supplementary test this time compared with previous years! Calderdale Admissions advised me that usually no more than 40 children sit the December test. I wonder why there is such a big increase? What is the source of the data confirming 100 children sat the supplementary test this year?

If the number is substantiated, could it be that more people are "playing the game", especially if word got out that the Halifax schools were accepting late entrants. For example, could they have sat the Heckmondwike exam and not achieved a "pass" and then thought why not give the Halifax Grammars a go?
