Just spoken with a nice lady at Trafford, I had emailed regarding all the forms we were sent!!

She was not aware until my email that Alty girls had sent their own letter regarding a waiting list!! this is NOT the official waiting list. The nice lady at Trafford would like you to email your frustrations that this may now have caused you.

A waiting list will only be compiled after March 22nd by Trafford LEA adn then in order as per criteria, so anyone thinking they are 8th or 20th on the list - this is not correct and you will realistically only know after this date.

She really does want to hear from you: school.admissions@trafford.gov.uk

Altrincham Girls are a Foundation school so compile their own lists. They sort the applications by distance and use Traffords specialists to confirm them.

As a Foundation school AGGS get the final say on admissions, so they control their own waiting list.

hi Gman

Thats certainly not the information I was given , the Trafford LEA formulate the list and Altrincham Girls do not compile the list, and hence anyone thinking they are X place in the system will have to wait till after the 22nd of March to find out exactly were they are positioned. Trafford were really frustrated by it. :?

I'm only passing the message along so individuals make sure that their reply went back to Trafford as well. You have until the 22nd March. :)

Obviously I am not an insider for either party so if push comes to shove and never having gone through this before I am guided by infor given either by the forum or directly fron the LEA's.

I'm pettet sure gman's right. The school control the lists as they are foundation schools. same for agsb. One of my fustrations aroud this process has been no consistency in info from LEA.

I've had to send letters to AGGS, Trafford AND Manchester to make sure everyone knows we want to go onto the waiting list.

I can't believe (or perhaps, won't believe, since I was told we're 8th!) that there is a huge discrepancy between the school list and the lea list, given they use the same criteria. Neither can I see what inconvenience has been caused, except perhaps the price of a stamp.
