Loreto - Admissions policy change
Just went to Loreto open day today.
Looks like the admissions policy has changed.
Last year if a category was oversubscribed - it was then decided on distance from house to school. This year its decided on score acheived in the entrance exam.
Not an issue for me as daughter number 1 starts in Sept and so daughter 2 is in category 2 and really just needs to pass - but of interest to others especially those living in Lymm Knutsford and Wilmslow who live really close to the school but out of Trafford who previously would normally have received a place as long as they passed the test - but who now have to wait it out to see if their score is high enough?

Re: Loreto - Admissions policy change
I think they are supposed to consult if they want to change the arrangements. Maybe they did and nobody noticed but you are right, they are different.

Who are they supposed to consult with?
Also does anyone know if they ever get below category 5 in Loreto?
Thanks

This is the part that relates to consulting with parents.
They must also consult with their LEA.
From 2011 admissions onwards they only have to consult every two years unless they change the admissions policy (as they have done).
This is the part that relates to consulting with parents.
To consult with parents and other groups in the local area, the admission authority must publish a copy of their proposed admission arrangements, together with details of where comments should be sent and by when, on their website (if they have one) and publish a notice in a local newspaper of where these arrangements can be viewed.
