SGS - Is it all that?

I was wondering if there are any parents who could provide some feedback on their experience of putting their DS\DD through the system at Sale. I wanted to make an informed decision before selecting this school for my own child. I have consulted a number of sources and have got mixed reports.

I know a number of children who did not "rate" their teachers and they didn't seem to be as content as many other kids I have met from Alty Boys\Girls. Loretto and Ambrose.

Any feedback welcome :).

I have a child in year 10 and a child in year 8. Both children settled in quickly and are very happy with the school and their teachers (apart from one who has now left). I have no experience of the Altrincham grammars to compare it to but we are very happy with our choice.

Wow!

Well I don't have any children at SGS but I don't think I've ever heard anything negative about it and I know lots of people that do have children there.

I wouldn't hesitate to send one of my children there if I thought it was the right school for them.

It's very early days for us, but believe me, I fought hard to get my daughter to SGS, and so far, it seems it was worth it. Over the past week she has flung her arms around me and thanked me for getting her in as she says it's the best school ever. As I said. it's early days, but so far I am convinced it's the right school for her partly down to it's art specialism - there has been a fair few arty links in with other subjects, and their high academic expectations which are tailored to every child.

To be honest, if you're from the Trafford area (possibly particualry the south area) then I don't think you can go too wrong with any of the schools here. We really are spoilt for choice.

Sale was our first choice as it is co-ed, and am not entirely comfortable with single-sex, but that is a choice unique to each parent and child.

I suppose it depends what you define as "all-that". What are you looking for in a school?

In Trafford we are so lucky to have good schools.

This years' GCSE and A-levels league tables show that couple of State Comprehensives results were so comparable to the Grammar schools results in Trafford.

Good luck to all taking SGS this saturday, finally 11+ season comes to a finale. Now wait for results begins!
