Re: AGGS-no of candidate sit for and passed
If you've not already 'left the building' bns, well done bns for doing that! Makes me feel more positive anyway. I know we shouldn't listen to hearsay but as someone else who lives that bit further out I was getting rather worried by all the Bowdon/Hale posters on here implying that anyone outside of that area had a slim chance of being offered a place this time around.
And I for one will miss your posts.... you certainly spiced it all up a bit!!!!
Goodbye and good luck (back in Feb/March maybe?!?)

Re: AGGS-no of candidate sit for and passed
Have some figures from AGGS admission office. Thought to share-
yr 10/11 11/12 12/13
sat 898 898 892 so far
passed 294 295 329
position on list of final pupil 220 (1st round) 238 ??? A
252 (2nd round)
mileage 5.76529 6.210692 ??? B
7.813204
Guess and see how far you can go. My guess A=230, B=4.76105
Have a guess now and will see on 1st march.
Hope this helpful.

Re: AGGS-no of candidate sit for and passed
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing that with us.
I am intrigued if they are saying that the distance of the last pupil who gained entrance in the current Y7 lives 7.8 miles from school, because we know from one of the posters here that her daughter got in two days before term started and they are just over 8 miles from school (had they been inside 8 miles she'd have got in straight away as she has a sister there already.)
So either they measured the distance incorrectly (and she shouldn't have had to wait for her place) or AGGS haven't given the correct distance.
Unless I am reading the figures wrongly?

Thanks aharris, very interesting stats. So on raw data 34 more girls passed this year, about 11% more than past years.
TM- Maybe these stats are for Cat 3; and the example you are mentioning is possibly Cat 2 (ie. sister of an exisitng student) which would have to be within 8 miles.

Sorry, TT, I must have been unclear.
The girl I referred to has a sister at the school and passed but was not offered a place on 1st March because she lives on the wrong side of the 8 mile boundary. Everyone in catchment would have had to be offered a place before her. Cat 4. 8 plus miles.

TM- 7.8....miles for 10/11 2nd round, not for 11/12.
Sorry, it is difficult to read on the post.
I think the figures mentioned are for CatC distance.
topsyturvy- this 11% increase, I guess, from local schools.
I was asking for some more detailed figures (how many passed by radius, etc) and they replied it will take longer time to get the figures so I guess they will not provide me the figures.

Re: AGGS-no of candidate sit for and passed
Is anyone else driving themselves to distraction checking and double-checking the CAF confirmation receipt email from Trafford LEA?After all my dd's efforts and results,I keep going cold at the thought that I might've cocked it up at the final hurdle....
Re: AGGS-no of candidate sit for and passed
Yes I know exactly what you mean. We are cat 2 for Loreto but I'm still thinking ... did I fill it in correctly and did it send ok!!! DD2 is more or less a dead cert to get into Loreto but I'm worried I've done something wrong and she won't get in......aaarrgghhh!!!!and...breathe wrote:Is anyone else driving themselves to distraction checking and double-checking the CAF confirmation receipt email from Trafford LEA?After all my dd's efforts and results,I keep going cold at the thought that I might've cocked it up at the final hurdle....
Be glad when we get 1st March and this whole process is over and done with for ever...for us

aharris - I was finding your post hard to read because the spaces had all been squashed by the editor.
I have reconstituted below what I think you intended.
Unfortunately to be able to get tabs to work I have to put this in a box that comes up marked as 'code' - please ignore that.
Can you let us know if this is what you intended?
