Hello, I'm new to this site, it looks really good and hopefully someone can give me some advice.

My daughter is sitting the Upton Hall entrance exam in November 2008 and I am a bit confused as to what are the best practice books. According to the Upton Hall web site the exams are NFER multi choice format. I have bought some practice NFER books but have read that Wirral's 11+ exams use a 21 type questions which are not all covered in the NFER books.

Does anyone know which Upton use. ie do I still carry on with the NFER books I have purchased or buy the Tutors ones on this site that cover more question types?

Any help much appreciated as I am a bit confused :?

Thanks

Hi Wirral 12

The Tutors had offices in Heswall and Ellesmere Port and initially tutored specifically for the Wirral 11+. The verbal reasoning e-papers and published papers (same questions) are the content of a twelve week course that used to run prior to the 11+ tests on the Wirral.

The Tutors were approached by elevenplusexams.co.uk to write a syllabus for NFER 21 question type questions which are contained within The Tutors VR CD1, there is a free demo including five question for each of the 21 question types.

We were then asked to write questions in question paper format. We decided to write papers containing 100 questions that covered all 21 question types in a single subject, This is VR CD2.

Elevenplusexams.co.uk have also recently launched a series of e-papers in short question format that cover all 21 question types.

We have written a Beginner VR CD for students starting the process early.

The papers that you have purchased that are published by Letts and written by NFER in 1996/97 contain 15 question types. These are good papers to use if you cover The Tutors question types 1-15 first and they are also good immediately prior to the tests as the answer schemes are similar to the real test answer sheets.

Other authors that cover the 21 question types on the Wirral are IPS, Susan Daughtery Bright Sparks, AE Tuition, Walsh and PHI. Bond, Athey and CGP cover some of the types, not all of them, and do include some types that do not appear in the Wirral tests.

Thanks very much for the comprehensive reply Mike, I'll continue with the NFER papers and use the tutors e papers as a supplement to this.
