Type 3, make two new words from two existing ones:

LEARN SEA The answer given is EARN and SEAL but could it not also be LEAN and SEAR?

Yes. Although sear is a less common word than seal, it is certainly not beyond the vocabulary of a 10 year old, so the question is a poor one.

There are also two possible answers to Paper 6, Q.23, when you get to it. It is a hidden word question: The man wore a flat hat. The answer given is flat hat, making that, but The man also provides the answer them. Children invariably get the "wrong" answer because them appears before that.

Thank you. I thought there was only four Bright Sparks papers. My pack only has four. Is there another pack with Papers 5 to 8?

Yes there is - and my understanding is that they increase in difficulty concurrently across the two packs ie 1 and 5 are the easiest, 4 and 8 the hardest.

Thanks MT. This is exciting news as we are big Bright Sparks fans! What is the second pack called? The pack with papers one to four is not called Pack One which is why I thought it was the only pack. I bought mine from the forum shop and I was sure there was only one standard pack. I am off to have a look now. DG
