The answer to the following sequence is supposed to be 42:

66, 6, 70, 12, 78, 24, 90,

Would anybody be able to explain why? We thought it ought to be 48. Thanks for any help.

Alternate sequnces.

66 70 78 90 (+4 +8 +12)

6 12 24 (+6 +12 so +18) 42

Although I would have looked for 48 first!

ambiguous as the sequence could be 6, 12, 24, 48..

was this multiple choice ? if so i presume 48 was not an option.

if it was standard it is a bit misleading

It may be that in the event of doubt and no multiple choice you have to use the completed pattern as your template. So adding not doubling.

Hmm this standard VR is going to be fun. :)

What about Bright Sparks test 2 question 66 ?

42 50 44 48 48 44 54 38 (?)

The answer is given as 62 but my mind is blank!

I would be grateful for any help.

42, 44, 48, 54
+2 +4 +6 +8

so 54+8=62
