18/9= 2+18 =20
4/2 = 2+4=6
18/3=6+18 =24

Sorry some one else will have to work that one out - it is beyond me. I would possibly suggest my DS guessed this one and came back to it if time allowed rather than waste too much time on it

Hi Reading mum & Shipra,
Thanks for the swift response.
This question is from IPS book practice paper C question no 21 and the answer is 95. I am not sure if it is a mistake in the practice paper. I am getting 85 as the answer for last two sets apart from the first one.

Thanks for your help.

You have mis-read/mis-typed the question. It reads as follows:

(48 .. [90] .. 37)
(38 .. [88] .. 45)
(35 .. [ ? ] .. 55)

It is therefore add both the outside numbers together, then add 5, and the answer is 95.

My copy of the book is dated 2003, but was bought a couple of years ago, and I am not aware that it has ever changed on re-printing.

Hi Sally Ann,

Thanks for prompt reply. Apologies i have misread the question. I'm so so sorry for wasting your time, and time of others :(

There is something i have learned from this experience, and that is to ensure the question is accurately taken in.
