L type question

Post by elevenplusprep »

I was just started preparing my DS for the 11+. He is quite sharp but slow in doing questions. I was just going throgh L type question in IPS Method and technique question. Example is
what is next in series
FP, EQ, CO, ZR, VN,__

I was just wondering if we need to go through complete series once we know the progression. i.e if we know the sequnce between F, E, C do we need to check the sequnce against Z, V or we can just go ahead and apply the rule to V and get the answer?

Any comment would be helpful.

I have deleted my earlier post because I hadn't read yours properly.

If you can see a clear sequence developing after four letters (e.g. +1, +1, +1, +1), there is no need to check the remaining letters.

Got the answer. it is BH.
alternate sequence.
SR OM LI JF ID = -1 -2 -3 -4 -5

BX GY MA TD = -4 -8 -12 -16 and the ans should be -20 which is BH

I worked out this solution I agree it is alternate sequence

B G M T +5+6+7 next in series +8 B
X Y A B +1+2+3 next in series +4 H
Ans BH

I like DC17C's method and I agree the answer is BH.

(IMHO - What a simple little sequence for our little 10 year olds to solve).

Dd said there weren't any questions like that and practising them had been a total waste of time! She had struggled so we spent ages on them.

Mind you, she can't remember a lot ...

More vocab and faster Maths and being good at Nvr.
