If the code for HIM is LLO, what does code KUKO mean?

Need to carrry on the sequence.

If the code for HIM is LLO, what does code KUKO mean?

A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z

L to H = minus 4
L to I = minus 3
O to M = minus 2

Pattern = -4, -3, -2 etc etc

K minus 4 = G
U minus 3 = R
K minus 2 = I
O minus 1 = N

Answer = GRIN

Yes, clear explanation thanks. But I do find this type of code odd. If meeting it for the first time ever you would be expecting the code for h and I to be different letters. Also how old you encode a 3 letter word. Would the adjustment be 3 2 1 or 4 3 2 or don't questions of this type ever ask about a shorter or longer word?
