Memrise.com as a Ressource?

Post by cocoa0101 »

Hi, now that Reading Boys has announced that their test will be CEM style, I am hunting around for different ressources to help improve vocab. I recognise that there is nothing better than extensive reading, however, as we all know, that is not always the case. My daughter used memrise.com to learn all of her vocab for her Latin GCSE and it really worked. Kids don't like vocab lists and unless their is some way of embedding the vocab, ideally through reading or creative writing, then it is very tough to remember. I am wondering if any parents have used memrise.com and if so which vocab they would have started off at for an above average Year 5 child preparing for CEM. If you have not used memrise and have experience of CEM I would be very grateful for your views as to where to start. There is a wealth of English vocab lists on the site, I wondered if somewhere in Essential English with Context might be a good starting point?

Any input welcome and thanks in advance!
