Home tutoring for Tiffin Boys

I am thinking of home tutoring my son for entrance into Tiffin Boys but I am beginning to realise this may be more difficult than I imagined. Could the forum assist me with the following:
1. Is this possible or shall I find a tutor asap?
2. He will be going into Y5 in Sep - do I still have time?
3. How many hours per week should he practise?
4. Which types of worksheets should I be using?

Any help would be very gratefully received.

yes it is possible , if you can stand it....... Some parents and children work well together, others (like me ) just can't! I have so much patience with other people's children

You have plenty of time and I would start by looking at building speed and confidence in tables, mental arithmetic and building vocabulary.

Ask in the relevant area board (not sure where Tiffin Boys is) about which books are most suitable.

Hi JM

I am in the same position as you, son going into Y5 and hoping to diy into Tiffin Boys.

I don't plan to start properly until January, in the meantime I'm going to work on the vocab as I know this is his weakest area.

Patricia has posted various tips on how to build this up, including listening to them read 3 times a week and noting down all unknown vocab.

Good luck, keep me posted on your progress!
