"Humongous" isn't even a word! At least, it's not in my dictionary. :? I always thought it was a slang cross between "huge" and ....some other word that means very big! (A bit like "gi-normous", iyswim.) Possibly even invented by Roald Dahl? - though that's just a guess!

Hi

We used a standard crossword solver dictionary for the wordlists, with a recommendation that we include over 8000 words, and actually included ove 10,000 in the final product.

The compound words such as humongous were inserted in the CD to create a higher difficulty level and introduce compounds of more than two words.

We compiled the questions for the purpose of vocabulary building not entirely for 11+ tests but for common entrance tests as well.

You may come across "bamboozle".

Regards

Bamboozle is definitely on my radar. I frequently use it in all seriousness to describe my current state!

Not sure how it can be a compound word, though... :?

Hi Jaysdarlin

Sorry, went off topic with bamboozle.

However!!! Further research came up with the following.

BAMB an acronym for the Botswana Agriculture Marketing Board

OOZLE an ancient Scottish golfing term.

There: BAMB-OOZLE a compound word.
