Tutors 15 Minute Tests Error?
Dear Mike,
Please can someone check Level 3 Paper 18 - Question 11-13
The codes dont seem to match>
GROW TOUR GURU ROUT
1452 5463 3465
The second numbers are all 4, and that would mean three words would have the same 2nd letter?
Thanks

It's us again! Not sure if this is an error - more like we cant figure it out!
15 Minute Tests, Level 4, Paper 7.
Q 12,
XG is to TC
as
EP is to ??
possible answers are:
KW
VK
UU
KV - this is the correct answer
LX
One would think it was -4 for both letters,
but E -4 would give you A
and P -4 would give you L
What are we missing?
Thanks in advance.

I get the same answer - AL, so this is a misprint, unless Mike comes along to enlighten us further!
These papers were only published this summer, and all new papers have an error rate of around 5%. As downloads, these papers can be corrected very quickly. It is rather more embarrassing when the tests are on paper with a print run of thousands!
I personally debugged the Level 3 papers, and even just doing those 20 papers was quite difficult, because the numbers and letters do start to swim before your eyes after a while! I think I missed one bug, which has since been corrected.
Sara, the Level 4s are probably well above the standard required by most tests and areas, so do use them judiciously.

Really?Oh my word - I have never come across something like that before.
Keeping the point of whether that particular question is correct or not to one side, in the real exam papers we would expect to have all correct and fully verified questions (and answers).
In that case, what do the children do if they get one such question? Shouldn't we prepare them to switch to a different logic if the obvious logic fails to find the answer in the answer sheet?
