Post subject: Sutton Test on Saturday
PostPosted: Mon Nov 27, 2006 12:59 pm
I would be interested to know how anyones son thought they did in the exam on Saturday.

My son said he really struggled with the maths - He reckons he missed out half of the questions (Hope hes exaggerating)! However, he said the english and verbal reasoning were very easy and there was loads of time to spare.

My son was the only boy from his primary school who took the Sutton exam so I dont have anyone to compare with.

This has been my only experience of Grammar entrance exams. (Not sure that I like it). My son worked really hard to prepare for the exam - This was his choice after attending the opening evening at Sutton and liking what he saw!

I have no clue about pass marks or percentages. I am very laid back about the whole thing. I stumbled onto this site today and admit that I had no idea how much stress could be involved for some people.
Yes, we all want our children to do well but first and foremost I want my child to be happy and confident. I know my son will do well in whichever school he gets into because thats the sort of boy he is.

He could well turn out to be Grammar School material but the question is: Am I?

Hi Sue

My son also took the Sutton Grammar test last Saturday. I'm of the opinion that he did pretty much the same as your son. VR & English Good but struggled a bit on the maths. Four of his friend who also took the test were all completely opposite, doing much better in the math element.
Anyway, we're all in the same boat now - Long time til March!!!

Best of luck
Vince

My son also sat the exams last Saturday. He found the Maths is okay and it was easier (according to him) than the mock test which he attended during the Summer time.

My son said there were 23 questions in the Maths test. The following is one of the questions (one he thought it was little bit tricky):

The distance Between town A and B is 32 Km. A man starts walking from A to B at 4Km per hour. He starts at 10:00 am.

At the same time, a cyclist starts riding from B to A at 12km per hour.

What time will it be when they both meet and how far from town A?

Thought this might help anyone sitting this exam next year. Remember that Sutton do also provide a couple of example questions a few weeks before the exam.
