Hello everyone

I have been wondering for quite a while as to when the catch up tests are held and today.........

..... Ds's young sister came home today with a fever .I am hoping ds doesn't catch whatever it is but i have to worry!Sutton is on Saturday

To be honest i don't really want to prolong the process anymore and we are counting down the days to the 8th of December!
Does anyone have a clue as to when the catch ups are held?

Not sure there is a published date sometimes people have sat it a week later others later on, depends on the reason for not sitting it on the day. The school have very clear instructions on their website about what to do if your child is sick. Chances are your son will be fine but if he isn't don't enter him for the test on the day and follow the instructions at:

Unfortunately my fears have been realized today and ds who has a cough has also developed a fever.

I am now in two minds because there are still three days before the test and he could theoretically improve by then but he would still be weakened (unfortunately he has inherited migraines which he always suffers from during fevers).

I dont want to delay the test to be honest with you and next saturday (the 28th) we have a commitment.

I will call sgs today and then the gp about a med. cert..

Hope you got on ok with SGS today. These are very tough calls to make. The bottom line is that if you would kick yourself for letting him sit it if he just failed, you should put it off as they won't be interested at appeal if you say he was ill.

It is every parent's nightmare as you do want to get it all over with by this stage. We were lucky my eldest went down with a horrendous bug just after-was ill for a month and I was just so glad it hadn't been a few days before.

Panic over -it seems to have been a shortlived virus.

I was really worried because ds has a really bad history of long running high fevers.He has seen many consultants to find the cause but thankfully his immune system kicked in as he grew .So i was braced for the worst.

Thankfully both kids safely deposited in school- pumped full of tonics and vitamins

shaftesbury mum - delighted you had happy outcome! (one of the great things about this forum, is that even if you lurk, you do worry about complete strangers and their DC - was thinking about you last night )Did not want to post this before, but a friend's boy was ill for several days before his exam for a very competitive school, where they do not allow subsequent sittings. Slightly better a few days before so allowed on a sleepover at his friends, where he got no sleep and then was much worse
He was dosed up with calpol etc, sat the exam, was so exhausted afterwards his mum had to carry/drag him to the car...
Needless to say (or story would not be worth telling) - he not only got a place, and a scholarship - true quality shines out!!!! (Tho' logical people will point out that what we don''t know is those other hundreds that took exams ill & failed, or it worsened their fever....

Exactly! Here am I, kicking about killing time before Results Day on Saturday, and ending up worrying about children in counties I've never even been to!
I had been about to post that maybe his fever would sweep on through, like a hurricane, like they can with children - burn bright, burn out quick - then you posted, just before I was going to, with the migraine thing and I thought, "No, shut up, Milla, stop barging in, get out of Surrey, run run and don't look back!"

Nice story thea, your friend should maybe think of bottling the "etc" part of whatever she gave her dc.The "11+ tonic" would sell like hotcakes on this site
