Hi, You've been given sound advice already but I'll just share this...
A child we know was heavily tutored from Year 2 ( yes you read correctly YEAR 2!!) both with a private tutor and extra at home. This family didn't go on holiday last year so they could fit in extra tutoring. Child did not get a place at GS. Now this is a very bright child who had a good chance at gaining a place. beware of burn out from starting too early!
Saying that, normally most children are tutored or start practice papers in earnest in Year 5 but quite a lot of those that got in this year in our area (well a few that I know anyhow!) were known to have been going to a tutor from Year 4.
