How busy are Kingston buses?

Hello, fairly new to this, and, as the LB of Kingston & Sutton thread will not allow new posts, thought I would try here on the above subject. Having unfortunately discovered that Surrey County Council are cancelling many of their out of county special school bus services, with effect from Sept 2011, (including the 801 which I was counting on to get DD from Hersham Library to Tiffin Girls), I wondered how busy the 671 gets between Surbiton BR Station and the school, and whether I could contemplate putting her on the train for 3 stops to Surbiton, then on to the bus? Is it always full so a non-starter does anyone know? Obviously she has to get a place first. Any other ideas? We live in Walton-on-Thames and via Hampton Court and Kingston Bridge we are only about 6 miles away (15-20 mins under non-rush hours conditions) but I should imagine morning traffic will rule that route out to us.
Thanks for any help or advice
WOTMum

Hi Wotmum,

Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure why it wouldn't allow you to post - you may have been trying to post in a locked thread.

I'll move this post as you'll probably get more replies.

Hi WOTMUM. I'm afraid I don't know the bus routes concerned, but from my experience I would say that all the buses are very busy at the time concerned. We live a similar distance/ travel time to you. Our journey would be 1-1.25 hours in rush hour normally, (just the bus, nothing allowed for either end), 1.5 if it's raining, 2 on a Friday afternoon and up to 4 (yes..) when there is 'trouble', particularly as it would involve a river crossing. On a postive note 15-20 min journey out of rush hour for Saturday sports! In truth the only way to really judge it is to try it yourself, on a rainy day, at the appropriate hour, during term time. If you are still interes  ted, get DD to do it, I did, she was sick on the bus, we rejected the offer. Wish I'd done it all earlier really!
