My son is starting Tiffin in Sept 2011. He does not know any boys who will be going and Is feeling a little nervous. Are any other boys in the same position? He feels that he will be the only boy who does not know anyone there.

I don't think he has anything to worry about. He will be requested to attend a day at the school sometime in June ( from memory!) where all boys joining in Sept 11 will meet. It's quite a fun day with plenty of activities, as i recall from my ds' joining year 7 last year. There'll be an opportunity to find out whether other boys are travelling in from your area, and arrangments for mode of transport can also be mutually discussed agreed with parents at the parent open evening session to which you will be invited during the evening of same day.

My DS is starting in September and like yours won't know anyone. I'm sure there will be lots of boys in the same situation and they will all make friends quickly.

Same here - I get the impression that the majority of boys going to Tiffin in Sept will be the only ones from their respective scchools given that it has no catchment area and has a high bar to entry.

My DS is starting in September and will know a couple of other boys, but when my eldest DS started in 1997 he didn't know any other boys. He's 25 now and sharing a flat with! 5 old Tiffinians
