I am really really struggling with this, and we haven't even got close to test time! I already have a son at a Grammar, and thought that second time around the whole process would be much more straightforward. I'm struggling with forming a view on the schools. Come the happy day when DD (hopefully - and with all fingers and toes crossed) passes a test to get into a Grammar I'm having difficulty determining if we really want that place - wherever it might be. We are lucky in that we have a very good school on our doorstep which we are well within catchment for which has all sorts of 'travel/convenience/friends on the doorstep' advantages
Overall comments regarding the Boys Grammars are pretty universally positive. For sure there are a few niggles here and there, and the personality of the schools differ, but the overwhelming concensus is positive. That is not the case for the girls Grammars. I keep hearing negative comments, or positive comments which are quite heavily qualified. Some of these are direct from the parents, others hearsay. I've been round the schools once, and will go again, but I would very much value the opinion of anybody with a daughter already at one of these schools. Please PM me if you would rather not have your views made public and in advance thank-you very much indeed.
